About KiriBook

There is something special about being rooted in a place. My great-grandparents homesteaded in the Midwest, and my parents still live on that same homestead, which anchors four generations of our family to one piece of land.

My own path went differently. Since getting married, my husband and I have lived in three cities, and we picked up friends, neighbors, and mentors in every one of them. That is a good problem to have. It is also a lot of addresses.

As people moved and life changed, a spreadsheet stopped being enough to keep up. Addresses, birthdays, and anniversaries turned into a low hum of stress that always got loud at the busiest possible moment, in the middle of Christmas cards, or a graduation, or a wedding invitation list. We wanted the logistics handled so we could pay attention to the people instead. That is how KiriBook started.

The person it is really built for

My mom has been the anchor of our family history and involved in her community for as long as I can remember. She believes nobody should ever feel forgotten.

She sends more than 200 Christmas letters a year, and she hand-wrote every single address for decades before she discovered printed labels. She also sends birthday wishes, anniversary blessings, and handmade Valentines to friends who have lost someone, for no reason other than to remind them they are seen and remembered.

She has never once called that work. But her circle kept growing, and keeping track of where everyone lives got harder every year. KiriBook is for her, and for anyone else who has quietly become the person who keeps everyone connected.

Why "KiriBook"

We named it after the Kiri tree. In Japan, a traditional custom involves planting a Kiri tree when a daughter was born, then crafted into a chest when she married, an object that changes alongside a life.

The rest of the tree fits too. Kiri roots run deep and hold on, which is the kind of quiet support we wanted this to be for the people in your book. It grows back after it has been cut, so it holds up through moves, transitions, and whatever the season happens to be. Our hope is that you spend less time sorting spreadsheets and more time actually reaching the people you love.

Who is behind it

KiriBook is a family business in the Midwest. My husband builds the product, I handle support and writing, and our kids will probably get pulled into it eventually. We keep our own family list in it, so most of what gets added started as something we needed ourselves.

Your book is yours

We do not sell your family's information, advertise against it, or hand it to an ad network. Nothing you enter is shared until you say so. You can export your contacts to CSV at any time, on either plan, free, so if you ever decide to leave, you leave with your data. The Privacy Policy covers the specifics.
